Muscat – The 27th Edition of Oman’s prominent event for IT, Telecom & Technology, COMEX commenced on 28th March 2017 under the patronage of the Information Technology Authority (ITA). Organized by OITE Trade Fairs and held under the theme “For a Digital Life”, the Exhibition was inaugurated by H.E. Alfadhel Mohamed Al Harthy, Secretary General to the Cabinet at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The inauguration ceremony culminated with the Oman Data Park signing a contract with Haya Water to provide highly scalable and cost-effective solutions and offer full support for Haya’s future business technology needs. Additionally, Oman Data Park also signed a contract with the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI) to integrate the OCCI portal e-services with the OCCI hardware and facilitate their availability through all mobile platforms (iPhone, Android, and Windows), thus providing more user-friendly services to OCCI customers.

COMEX Smart Talks

COMEX ‘Smart Talks’ provided a forum for both local & regional companies to share their ideas and solutions with industry colleagues and customers. Through the course of three days the forum will see corporations like Gulf Business Machines, The Integrated Connection LLC, Caledonian College of Engineering, OCS Infotech, Focus Softnet LLC, Microexcel, Prime Business Solutions LLC, RnR DataLex Pvt. Ltd, UnoTrack, YUJ Designs, OMX Technology-FZE, Trinetra Wireless, Case in Point Learning, Target Development Company LLC, InfoFort, Majan University College and Ufone Healthcare Private Limited share their thoughts on related ‘smart’ issues through interactive sessions.


The eGovernment pavilion provides companies and individuals the chance to meet with various government representatives, while at the same time allowing these government institutions to gain valuable feedback from the public. This year the ‘Future Tech Zone’ was launched for the first time by ITA at COMEX’ enabling companies across ICT & related sectors to showcase demos of various products & solutions that promote the concept of smart cities, smart homes, smart living and smart work processes. The new ‘Incubation Centre’, another COMEX high-point, promoted ITA’s Sas Programme designed for small and medium ICT businesses, entrepreneurs, graduates and students interested in starting new innovative ventures.

COMEX Business

The COMEX Business section witnessed business enterprises showcasing the latest in ICT technology, with new participation from Singapore, Lithuania, India, UAE, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt & Jordan and increased participation from renowned names in the ICT industry including Omantel, Gulf Business Machines, MG IT, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), OCS Infotech, OMX, Oman Broadband Company (OBC) and Oman Post. Business visitors also had the opportunity to establish potential meetings with trade exhibitors through the ‘Meeting Registration Portal’ http://comex.om/2017/en/meeting-registration/ a recent add-on to COMEX’s online presence. One of the highlights at COMEX Business this year included the ‘Indian Pavilion’ under the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) India featuring over 11 companies offering the latest software services and hardware to Oman’s ICT trade sector enthusiasts. Heralded as the regions preferred launch pad for introducing new ICT services into the market, COMEX visitors were treated to the latest on offer by Omantel & Oman Post, among others.

COMEX Shopper

The COMEX Shopper section presented the perfect opportunity for consumers to get their hands on the latest gadgets aiding the digital transformation of people’s lifestyles from leading ICT brands like Awasr, Omantel, Oman Phone, MG – IT, Zahrat Al Hanna, Clear Coat and Tech Link Systems.
